When the aliens Ail and Ann come to Tokyo, Luna, who still has her memory intact, is forced to summon Usagi's memory so that she can protect Naru from a cardian. After defeating the cardian, Usagi remembers her love for Mamoru and goes to find him so they can be reunited. She is sadly mistaken though when she finds he doesn't have his memory and thinks she's crazy.
The two aliens enroll in school at Juuban and some strange stuff happens. First, Ail sees Usagi and immediately falls in love with her. This causes Ann to be jealous, but when she later sees Mamoru and falls for him, she temporarily forgets it. For quite a while Ann and Usagi fight over Mamoru, both trying to get his attention and love. Usagi most avoids Ail, but doesn't deny she does have a sort of attraction for him.
Usagi tries many things to get Mamoru to remember his relationship with her, but none of them work. The thing that I love the most that she does is draw pictures of her and him together about the story of their love up until that point. They've very adorable and show how hard she was trying to get his love back.
So Usagi and Ann competed for Mamoru's love in some really quite amusing situations while Usagi as Sailormoon fought Ail and Ann unaware of their presence at her school. Not long after the arrival of the aliens, the Moonlight Knight appears.
He interveaned in the fighting just as Tuxedo Kamen did, looked like Mamoru, only he was dressed in arabic clothing. Usagi tried and tried to find out who he was, suspecting Mamoru, but was never to find out who until quite a while later.
Eventually the truth comes out and Mamoru's memory returns. Both Usagi and Mamoru end up in Ail and Ann's apartment when it happens. Ann who is very jealous of Usagi shoves her in Ail's room, which contains the Doom Tree. Beacuse of Usagi's immense energy the Doom Tree takes her. Mamoru figures out what is going on and goes to save her. Eventually Usagi is forced to transform to Sailormoon to protect Darien. The Doom Tree then attacks at Ail and Ann and then explains to Sailormoon that it did need energy, but it needed love energy. Understanding this, Sailormoon heals the tree. The the Mamoru's memories flow back as the Moonlight Knight is revealed to be a projection of himself subconsciously sent to protect Usagi. Once again the lovers are reunited!
